  • SPARK: York CIC 17-21 Piccadilly York, England, YO1 9NX United Kingdom (map)

A workshop for creatives who want to find opportunities and learn how to make their applications stand out.

SLAP (Supporting Live Art and Performance) present 'The Work Of Art' in partnership with York Creatives. A workshop series for artists and creatives practicing any art form and at any point in their career.

These workshops will cover all aspects of the 'business side' of being an artist. In the current climate it is becoming essential to be able to promote your work and understand how to manage a business, to have a sustainable career in the arts.

This workshop will share how to find the best creative opportunities for your work as well as tips on how to make your applications stand out. The workshop is presented by SLAP Director Lydia Cottrell.

Discover where to find creative opportunities, find out what makes a successful artist statement and learn how to make sure your applications have the best chance of success.

This workshop will cover:

  • The best places to look for opportunities

  • How to decide if the opportunity is for you

  • How to write a successful artist bio

  • How to make the application process easier

  • Getting your work supported

Places are free but you need to book using the form below.

The workshop is taking place before York Creative Drinks, so do stay around afterwards to meet other creatives in the city. Book your place here.
