SLAP Collective

SLAP Collective

An artist that makes work about technology.
An artist that makes work with technology.
And a robot.

SLAP Collective are creative director & choreographer Lydia Nutter, creative technologist and composer Jack Sibley, and graphics & motion designer Tim Woodson. Formed in 2023, we create work that explores our relationships with mobile phones and technology.

We make work which combines original music, mobile technology and live performance, with bright colours, noise and humour. Using these tools we are building a bold and lively body of work that lives between the screen and IRL, inviting audiences to not just watch or listen, but to touch, move and co-create. Our work focuses  on participation and accessibility, using familiar technology to create thoughtful, hands-on experiences that anyone can join.

As artists, we are also interested in sustainability and how we can create digital art at scale whilst being carbon conscious. Much of our research explores how large, impactful experiences can happen through small, low-carbon systems. We are aware of the carbon cost of the internet and digital tools, so actively seek out green hosting technologies and low-energy systems as part of our creative process.

SLAP’s work has been commissioned by Compass Live Art, Theatre Company Blah Blah Blah, Make It York, Leeds 2023 and The Place, and supported by Arts Council England and XR Stories.
